Sandeep Ghosh, former principal of a medical college, and Abhijit Mondal, head of Tala police station, were produced in Sealdah court today by the CBI in connection with the alleged rape and murder of a woman doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata. The CBI had accused Ghosh of tampering with evidence in the case on Saturday. He is currently in judicial custody for a separate corruption case.
Abhijit Mondal has also been arrested, with charges including tampering with evidence and delaying the filing of the FIR in the case. An official stated, “We will appeal for their custody in the Sealdah court.”
In light of the proceedings, a large number of security personnel were deployed outside the Sealdah court to maintain order.
