The Congress party has once again criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his alleged indifference to the ongoing violence in Manipur. The party accused Modi of frequently traveling to various parts of India and abroad while avoiding a visit to the violence-stricken state. Clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities have left over 200 people dead and thousands displaced since May last year.

In a post on X, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh highlighted that a three-member commission of inquiry, formed on June 3, 2023, to investigate the violence, has not yet submitted its report. The commission, which was initially given six months to deliver its findings, has now been extended until November 24, 2024.

Ramesh expressed deep concern for the people of Manipur, stating that they continue to suffer while the Prime Minister focuses on other engagements. He labeled Modi as a “non-biological” leader who, according to him, is deliberately postponing a visit to the troubled state.

The Congress has consistently raised concerns over the lack of government attention on Manipur, emphasizing the need for immediate intervention to restore peace and stability.
