Tragedy struck in Sikkim’s Pakyong district today when four soldiers lost their lives in a road accident. The incident occurred on the Renak-Rongali highway, where a vehicle carrying EMC personnel from the Army stationed in Binnagudi, West Bengal, skidded off a sloped road and plunged into a forested area.
Police officials confirmed that all four individuals in the vehicle died at the scene. The deceased soldiers have been identified as Sepoy Pradeep Patel from Madhya Pradesh, CFNW Peter from Imphal, Naik Gursev Singh from Haryana, and Subedar K Thangapandi from Tamil Nadu.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, with police authorities working to determine what led to the vehicle skidding off the road. The bodies of the soldiers have been handed over to the Army for further arrangements.
In response to the tragic news, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, along with party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, expressed their deep sorrow and condolences for the loss of the brave soldiers. The accident has brought a wave of grief and mourning, underscoring the risks faced by those serving in the armed forces.
