Earlier, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met with Prime Minister Modi to brief him on the evolving situation in the neighboring country. Sheikh Hasina, the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, has resigned from her position following several days of protests in the country. The resignation comes amid ongoing unrest, and an interim government will now take over.

Jaishankar’s meeting with Modi highlights India’s concern over the rapid developments in Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina’s resignation follows widespread protests against a controversial job quota system, which allocated government jobs to families of those who participated in the 1971 Liberation War. The protests have led to significant violence, with over 100 reported deaths in recent days.
