Today, heavy rains caused the canopy of Gujarat’s Rajkot International Airport to collapse. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, but it has given the Congress an opportunity to criticize the ruling BJP. Rajkot airport officials stated in a post on social media platform X, “Due to heavy rains, water accumulation was observed in the terminal’s canopy at 11:40 AM.” They further explained that upon receiving this information, the civil department was notified, and staff were immediately deployed to the site.

Rajkot International Airport is located 30 kilometers away in Hirasar. According to the officials, the heavy rainfall led to further water accumulation, causing the canopy’s fabric to tear and eventually collapse at 11:55 AM. The incident has raised concerns about the infrastructure and safety measures at the airport.

The Congress party has seized this opportunity to launch an attack on the BJP, questioning the quality of infrastructure development under their governance. The incident follows similar events at Delhi and Jabalpur airports, raising alarms about the resilience of airport facilities during adverse weather conditions.

Airport authorities have assured that immediate steps are being taken to address the issue and prevent such incidents in the future. Passengers are advised to follow updates and cooperate with the airport staff during this time.
