President Draupadi Murmu hosted a farewell dinner for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his central cabinet at Rashtrapati Bhavan last night. The event marked a significant moment as the current government concluded its term following the recent Lok Sabha elections. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were also in attendance at the formal gathering.
In a statement posted on X, the President’s Office said, “President Draupadi Murmu hosted a farewell dinner for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Cabinet Ministers at Rashtrapati Bhavan.” This farewell event comes on the heels of Mr. Modi’s earlier meeting with President Murmu, during which he submitted his resignation along with that of his cabinet ministers.
The dinner served as an opportunity for the leaders to reflect on their tenure and discuss the future as the nation prepares for a new government. President Murmu expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the efforts and achievements of the outgoing Prime Minister and his team.
Earlier in the day, after submitting his resignation, Mr. Modi reiterated his commitment to a ‘developed India’ during his cabinet meeting. The President accepted the resignations and requested Mr. Modi and his ministers to continue in their roles until the formation of the new government.
The event at Rashtrapati Bhavan was marked by a cordial atmosphere, highlighting the respect and cooperation between the nation’s top leaders as they transition to a new phase in Indian governance.
