Tragedy strikes Afghanistan as the death toll from relentless floods triggered by heavy rains surges past 300, confirmed by the UN Food Program. The northern and northwestern regions bear the brunt of nature’s fury, with more than 62 casualties reported in Baghlan province alone. Idayatullah Hamdard, provincial director of natural disaster management, lamented the widespread destruction of homes and properties, underscoring the dire humanitarian crisis unfolding.
In addition to the loss of lives, countless individuals remain missing, adding to the anguish and uncertainty surrounding the calamity. Abdullah Janan Saak, spokesperson for the Ministry of Natural Disaster Management, highlighted the gravity of the situation, revealing that even the capital city, Kabul, has been adversely affected by the floods.
