The Supreme Court has scheduled its verdict on interim bail for Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money-laundering case linked to the Delhi excise policy scam for May 10. The announcement follows a hearing by Justice Sanjiv Khanna, who heads the Bench handling the case.
The decision comes after Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, representing the Centre, sought clarity on the hearing date. Kejriwal’s plea for interim relief was previously deferred to May 9 or later to enable him to campaign in the Lok Sabha elections.
While the Bench hinted at granting interim bail due to the electoral context and Kejriwal’s status as an elected official, it emphasized restricting his official duties if released. Kejriwal, currently in Tihar Jail since March 21, contests the Delhi High Court’s ruling upholding his arrest in the money-laundering case.
The verdict on interim bail holds significance amidst ongoing political dynamics, as parties intensify their campaigning efforts. Kejriwal’s legal battle continues amidst the backdrop of the Lok Sabha polls, shaping the political discourse in the national capital.
