In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge accused the duo of facilitating the sale of government-owned factories to industrial giants Ambani and Adani. Addressing a public rally in Afzalpur, Kharge challenged Modi to recover allegedly looted funds instead of blaming the Gandhi family, highlighting that since 1989, no member of the Gandhi family has held significant political office.
Kharge contended that the current administration prioritizes the interests of Ambani and Adani over the welfare of the populace. He asserted that Modi and Shah are acting as sellers for the industrialists, rather than serving the nation. Kharge further criticized Modi for his repeated attacks on the Congress party, suggesting that Modi’s fear of “invisible voters” drives his incessant criticism.
The Congress president questioned the sincerity of Modi’s anti-corruption stance, citing the alleged manipulation of 444 MLAs regardless of their party affiliation. Kharge called on the public to discern the truth between Modi’s claims and Congress’s assertions. Additionally, he rebuked Modi for his divisive remarks regarding the Muslim community’s family size.
In a separate press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, Kharge highlighted the Congress party’s growing support across various states, dismissing Modi’s critiques as signs of fear. He emphasized that despite Modi’s attempts to undermine the Congress, the party is garnering positive responses from voters nationwide.
With the Lok Sabha elections underway, Kharge’s remarks underscore the escalating political tensions and the contrasting visions between the ruling party and the opposition. As the campaign intensifies, allegations of corruption and favoritism are likely to shape the electoral discourse, influencing voter sentiment in the upcoming polls.
