In a heartbreaking turn of events, a mid-day meal worker met with a fatal accident this morning while cooking at a government school in Machiwara Kham village, situated on Ropar Road. The unfortunate incident occurred when a nearby cylinder pipe leaked, triggering a fire that engulfed the worker’s clothes. Despite the valiant efforts of the teacher on duty to douse the flames, the worker sustained severe burns.
Rushed to Machiwara Hospital in critical condition, medical professionals battled tirelessly to save her life. However, the extent of her injuries proved insurmountable, and she tragically succumbed to her wounds. The attending doctor cited severe burns as the cause of her demise, indicating the severity of the incident.
Upon receiving the distressing news, the family members of the deceased rushed to the scene. Her body has been transferred to Samrala for post-mortem examination. This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with essential tasks like cooking in educational institutions.
