In a solemn ceremony held at Teja Singh Samari Hall within the sacred precincts of Sri Harmandir Sahib, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) presented its Annual Budget Journal Meeting for the fiscal year 2024-25. Led by SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and esteemed members, the gathering convened amidst the presence of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
During the meeting, General Secretary Rajinder Singh Mehta disclosed that the SGPC’s budget for the upcoming year stands at a staggering 12 billion 60 crore 97 lakh 38 thousand rupees, reflecting an increase of 300 crores compared to the previous year’s budget of 11 billion 38 crore 14 lakh rupees. Highlighting the allocation of funds, President Dhami emphasized that a substantial portion has been designated for panthic endeavors, welfare initiatives, and educational endeavors.
However, the solemnity of the occasion was punctuated by expressions of concern regarding the plight of captive Sikhs. President Dhami lamented the Center’s apathy towards their release, underscoring the SGPC’s unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of Sri Akal Takht Sahib. Advocating for dialogue with the five-member committee appointed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Dhami urged the government to heed the historical significance of their cause and engage in constructive discourse.
In addition to addressing socio-political concerns, the SGPC reaffirmed its dedication to uplifting the community through educational initiatives. Significant allocations have been earmarked for the advancement of Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa Girls School, Guru Granth Sahib University, and scholarships for deserving students. Notably, substantial funds have been allocated for infrastructure development, including renovation projects and maintenance of educational institutions.
As the SGPC navigates the fiscal year ahead, its commitment to serving the Sikh community and promoting its cultural heritage remains unwavering. The unveiling of the annual budget underscores the organization’s steadfast dedication to fulfilling its mandate and fostering the welfare of the Sikh populace.
