In a spirited address during the ‘Bharat Joko Nyaya Yatra’ rally in Morena, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pledged that if his party assumes power at the Centre, they will institute a statutory minimum support price (MSP) for farmers. Accusing the BJP government of prioritizing industrialists over farmers, Gandhi claimed a staggering Rs 16 lakh crore interest waiver for a select few while denying MSP to the agrarian community.
Amidst the ongoing farmer protests in Punjab and Haryana, demanding legally guaranteed MSP, Gandhi emphasized the critical need for such safeguards. He asserted that 73 percent of the nation’s population, encompassing Other Backward Classes, Dalits, and Adivasis, lacks representation in the government and various sectors. Rahul Gandhi proposed a caste census, asserting it as a crucial step towards ensuring justice and inclusivity for these marginalized groups.
As the political landscape intensifies in the run-up to the elections, the Congress party positions itself as a champion for farmers’ rights and advocates for a more inclusive representation in governance.
