Chandigarh anticipates a flurry of legislative activities as the budget session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha kicks off tomorrow, scheduled to run until March 15. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema is set to present the budget on March 5, marking a crucial moment for the 16th Vidhan Sabha in Punjab.
The session will commence at 11 am tomorrow with Governor Banwari Lal Purohit delivering the opening speech. Following the address, heartfelt tributes will be paid to departed souls. A brief hiatus is planned on March 2 and 3 (Saturday, Sunday), with the Governor’s speech slated for debate on March 4. The much-anticipated budget presentation is scheduled for March 5, followed by thorough deliberations on March 6.
Government functions and additional meetings are slated for March 7 and 8. Another break is in store on March 9 and 10 (Saturday, Sunday), paving the way for dedicated legislative work in the remaining days. Multiple bills are expected to be discussed and passed during this period. The budget session, comprising a total of 5 holidays, will draw to a close on March 15, underscoring a period of intensive parliamentary discourse and decision-making.
