In a concerning incident at a private school located on Tibba Road in the Basti Jodhewal area of Ludhiana, a 5th-grade student reportedly faced severe physical abuse from a teacher. The young boy was allegedly slapped on the face and subjected to blows on his hands and back. The incident came to light when the child, after receiving medical treatment at the civil hospital, revealed the ordeal to his parents.
The student recounted that upon returning from a two-day leave, the teacher conducted a math test. Frustration arose when the student’s performance fell short, leading the teacher to unleash anger through physical punishment. The child claimed to have been struck on the back of his hands with a stick and on his back during the ordeal. Disturbingly, the student also asserted that the teacher restricted him from speaking Punjabi in school, insisting on English or Hindi.
The student’s brother disclosed that this wasn’t an isolated incident, as the teacher had allegedly resorted to physical punishment in the past. When the matter was brought to the attention of the school’s management, the response was reportedly dismissive, with the teacher attributing her behavior to depression.
In response to the gravity of the situation, a formal complaint has been filed with the Tibba police station. Authorities are expected to investigate the matter thoroughly, ensuring justice is served for the student and accountability is established. The incident highlights the importance of safeguarding students’ well-being and fostering a safe and nurturing educational environment.
