In a shocking turn of events, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) following an intense questioning session related to alleged money laundering and a land scam. The upheaval in the state’s political landscape led Soren to submit his resignation to the Governor, which has been promptly accepted.
As a consequence of Soren’s resignation, Champai Soren, also known as ‘Tiger’ in Jharkhand, has been announced as the next Chief Minister. Champai Soren, elected as the leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislative party, is set to take charge amidst the unfolding developments. Notably, there were speculations in the media about Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren, being considered for the Chief Minister’s role, but these claims have been refuted by Minister Banna Gupta as “imaginary.”
The current situation has led to Hemant Soren being placed under house arrest at the Chief Minister’s residence. The political turmoil has captivated Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, with residents and political observers eagerly awaiting further updates. Champai Soren’s assumption of the Chief Minister’s office adds a new chapter to the state’s political narrative, leaving citizens and analysts anticipating the implications of this sudden change in leadership.
