A sudden fire broke out on Friday morning in the Janata Colony near the Jalandhar-Amritsar National Highway, adjacent to the car market. The fire engulfed 1 BMW, 3 Audi cars, and an Indica car. People managed to move some cars to safety, preventing the flames from spreading further.
The exact cause of the fire is still unknown, but the estimated loss due to the blaze is in the millions. The incident is currently under investigation. Jalandhar National Highway hosts around 5 car markets with approximately 100 cars standing every day.
According to available information, the fire started around 7 AM when an Audi car was first engulfed. Soon after, nearby parked cars also succumbed to the flames. The fire brigade team arrived promptly, extinguishing the fire after some time, saving around 20 vehicles.
The Audi car was the first to catch fire, prompting locals to alert the car market owner and the fire department. Shortly after, two more cars, a BMW and an Indica, were also engulfed in flames. If the fire department hadn’t controlled the situation, an additional 20 cars could have been affected. The estimated loss for vehicles in the fire is around 50 lakhs.
